Did you know whole grains support every stage of life?
Whole grains provide over 26 essential nutrients, including fibre protein and B vitamins. From healthy development in children to reducing the risk of chronic disease, whole grains benefit every age and stage.
We’re celebrating the goodness of whole grains this Whole Grain Week.
Whole Grain Week, from the 18th to the 24th of November, is an annual awareness campaign by the Grains & Legumes Nutrition Council. Whole Grain Week falls in line with International Whole Grain Day on the 19th of November. This year, we’re celebrating the benefits of eating whole grains for your whole life.
How many whole grains should you be eating?
Whole grain requirements vary depending on your age and stage.
- Children aged 1-3 years: 24 grams per day
- Children aged 3-8 years: 32-40 grams per day
- Children over 9 years and adults: 48 grams per day
To reach your whole grain intake, eat at least three whole grain foods throughout the day.
